THIS IS A TEST. A BETA RUN. Please submit suggestions or corrections.

Important Rule & Scoring Change

48-hour captain review period

The Rule Change

Shot in the Dark is now scored according to the outcome of the play:

  • +10 for a successful play that saves the castaway.
  • +2 for an unsuccessful play when the castaway survives.
  • −9 for an unsuccessful play when the castaway goes home, stacking with the regular −2 elimination penalty for −11 total.

This change is retroactive for the beta season, effective Episode 1.

Reasoning

Shot in the Dark is scored by whether the play actually saves the castaway. The three outcomes distinguish a successful save from a failed play the castaway survives and a failed play that ends in elimination, so the point result reflects what happened in the game.

The Rule Change

Presidential Badges are now worth season-end bonus points:

  • +5 for each Presidential Badge earned (Green Seal of Honor, Never Say Die, Prophet's Coin).
  • Presidential points stack on top of the regular badge bonus cap of +10.

Effective immediately for the beta season.

Reasoning

Presidential honors are the rarest achievements in the league — one of a kind per Captain per season, awarded by the President's hand only. Five points each gives them real weight at season end without letting them swamp the regular badge race.

Episode 1 · Permanent UncertaintySeptember 23, 2026Spoilers

The Open Era began with 21 castaways scrambling for supplies before they even knew their tribes. Lewis Kelly volunteered to leave the group and spent about 30 hours alone on Exile Island, where he failed a punishing attempt to chop down a mast and claim an idol. The remaining players split into Toka and Savu, while Rob Antonson found a standard hidden immunity idol at Savu.

At the first immunity challenge, the players chose to keep final-four fire-making in the game, and Savu won safety. Toka's vote shifted between Jenna Doore and Aaliyah Puglia during a chaotic Tribal Council. Both played their Shot in the Dark, neither drew safety, and Aaliyah was voted out 6–2 as the season's first elimination.

Four Things ToRemember
  1. Points belong to the captain who owns the castaway for that episode.
  2. Enter each qualifying event once unless the rule says “per” or “each time.”
  3. Fire bonuses do not stack. Idol-in-pocket and elimination penalties DO stack.
  4. Changes apply forward unless the Commissioner says otherwise.

Bonus

Commissioner’s Blessings

Extra gifts from the Commissioner’s desk

Hail Mary

One locked pick for the Sole Survivor

+8Overall points

After Episode 1 airs, each captain locks in one Sole Survivor pick. The pick may be any castaway still in the game and does not have to be on that captain’s team.

Picks are due before Episode 2 airs and cannot be changed. If the pick wins the season, that captain banks +8 in their overall cumulative total.

Good Human Bonus

A weekly reward for putting someone else’s game first

+2Overall points

Good Human Service Hours: +2 points per verified hour. Any hour of community service, of any kind, earns the captain +2 overall points when a third party can verify the service.

Each week, captains may nominate “Good Human” moments from the most recently aired episode: altruistic actions in which a castaway benefited someone else’s game before their own; captains may nominate moments by any castaway, including their own players. Nominations are due Tuesday at 12:00pm ET before the next episode airs.

The Commissioner has the final say. He selects which nominees make the ballot and discards the rest.

If only one nominee makes the ballot, that castaway’s captain automatically receives +2. If multiple nominees make the ballot, each captain votes for one nominee and may not vote for a nomination involving their own castaway. Most votes wins. Good Human ties are decided by the green/red coin flip; the Commissioner breaks all other ties. The winning castaway’s captain receives +2.

The winner is revealed on Tuesday, before Wednesday’s episode airs. The +2 is included in the captain’s overall cumulative total, not a separate side pot. If no nominations are deemed eligible, no award is given that week.

Rules

Captain Rules — League Operations

The Ringer Lifeline One Use Per Season

Each captain gets one Ringer for the entire season. A Ringer zeroes out one negative point deduction for one of that captain’s castaways. The Commissioner records the episode, castaway, and deduction erased. Ringers do not replenish at the merge.

Trades

Only active castaways may be traded. Swaps must be balanced: 1-for-1, 2-for-2, and so on. Both captains must agree. The initiating captain pays after completion: $1 for a pre-merge trade or $5 for a post-merge trade. Earned points stay with the original captain; the new captain scores the player beginning with the next unaired episode. Trading opens at the season start. Pre-merge trades are allowed until the merge re-draft; post-merge trades are allowed only until the deadline. The deadline takes effect at the earlier of these two events: after the merge, a captain is eliminated by losing their final castaway; or every captain is down to exactly one castaway. No trades are allowed after that point. The Commissioner may veto collusive deals.

Merge Re-Draft

Use the standings at the merge to identify the captain in first place. Only that leading captain may keep one surviving castaway. Every other surviving castaway enters the draft pool. Draft in snake order, worst-to-first by the merge standings. A captain with no survivors still participates but receives only one draft pick. Scoring remains cumulative; the re-draft does not reset points.

Pot & Payouts

Buy-in $20 × 5 captains = $100 base pot. Pre-merge trade fee $1 per completed trade; post-merge trade fee $5 per completed trade. Trade-fee revenue split: 50% donated to a charity of the runner-up’s choosing, 50% added to first place. Second place: $20 flat and chooses the charity. First place: $80 + 50% of trade-fee revenue.

Commissioner Notes

Rule Changes

New or adjusted scoring rules apply forward from the next unscored episode unless Commissioner Bigorious explicitly orders retroactive rescoring.

Designated Survivor

Patt Cannaday is hereby the Designated Survivor. He starts the season unassigned and scores for nobody. He goes to the captain of the first castaway to get their torch snuffed by Jeff Probst this season, with no point deduction.
